Ali Campbell’s UB40 to headline Raggamuffin 2012

One of my favorite music festies in New Zealand (ok i know, there aren’t that many to choose from!), has just revealed their first headliner. From the Raggamuffin press release:

The one and only original voice of ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘Kingston Town’ and ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’, returns to New Zealand to headline the 2012 Raggamuffin Festival. As lead singer with the world-renowned group UB40, Campbell has sold over 70 million records worldwide, notched up four number No. 1 world-wide singles and over 40 Top 40 UK singles, making him reggae royalty in our books!

Ali Campbell’s UB40 is the first in a line-up of massive acts to be announced for New Zealand’s premier reggae event, which will be bigger than ever before. The Mai FM party kicks things off at the Rotorua International Stadium on Friday 27 Jan and the Saturday will be jamming with two stages packed with the big international names and Aotearoa stars.

The rest of the huge line-up will be revealed on 4th August!

I grew up listening to UB40 and have seen them live a few times already. They do deliver and are absolutely crowd favorites! No surprise in seeing them return to New Zealand! Here’s a fav UB40 track of mine.

Magnetic Man, Katy B, Diplo & Digitalism set to rock Vector Arena

Mark the 29th September in your calendar kids, cause it’s going to be one hell of a party at Vector Arena with the lovely folks at Rhythm and Vines bringing you Rhythm & Vines Soundcheck.

Included in the lineup is our very own Kiwi Ruby Frost. This will be an epic night for all you dubstep fans. Tickets are NZ$89 through TicketMaster and go on sale at 9am 29th of July. Although there is a pre-sales exclusively available on 28th of July to R&V ticket holders.

With Parklife happening during the same time in Australia it was only fair that we shared in some of the fun our neighbours are having. Magnetic Man, Katy B, Diplo & Digitalism are all performing there this year. A little disappointed that Santigold wasn’t included in the Soundcheck lineup but kudos to Rhythm and Vines for organising this!

To get you amped up for the event, here are a few of my fav’ tracks by some of them!

Katy B ft Ms Dynamite – Lights On.

Magnetic Man ft John Legend – Getting Nowhere

Tiësto vs Diplo – C’Mon
